Your privacy, in plain words.

Who we are

Bēsia Beauty Studio is the trading name of Besia Studio, a business registered in Ghana, at 54 Fifth Circular Road, Cantonments, Accra. We decide how your information is used. We are registered with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana. For anything about your information, call or WhatsApp 024 078 7993 or write to beautybesia@gmail.com.

What we keep, and why

• Bookings. Your name, phone number, the date, time and services, and any note you add; your email if you give it. To book you in and remind you.
• Payments. The amount, its status, a reference, the method, and the last four digits of a Mobile Money number. You enter card and Mobile Money details with our payment provider, never on this website, and we never see or keep them.
• Hair Club consultations. Your answers about your hair, scalp and health. We ask for them only with your separate consent, keep them encrypted, and only the owner can read them. They are used to plan your treatment and nothing else.
• Shop orders. Your name, phone number and delivery area or address, to get your order to you.
• Classes. Your name, phone number, email, course and payment plan, to hold your seat and issue your certificate.
• Messages. What you send us by WhatsApp, phone, email or our forms, so we can answer.
• Messages from the studio. When the studio confirms your booking, moves or cancels it, or your order moves on, we email the address you gave, and we send a reminder the day before your appointment. On WhatsApp we send a reminder only if you ask for one by sending REMIND to our number from your own phone. For each message we keep which one it was, when, and your address or number partly hidden; the message itself (its reference, day, time and services) is kept 30 days in case it has to be sent again, then only that note stays. When you write to our WhatsApp, our assistant may answer common questions from the studio's own price list and hours; we keep which kind of question it was, not your words.
• Reviews and photographs. Your first name and initial with your words, or a photograph of your hair, only with your permission.
• News and offers. Only if you tick the box for them. Every message tells you how to stop.
• Where a request came from. The page you sent it from, and the campaign name in a link you followed, for example from Instagram. To see which pages bring work, never to follow you.
• Keeping the site safe. Our hosts keep short records of visits, such as an address and a time, to stop spam and attacks. When you send a form, we count it against your internet address, kept scrambled and only for a day. When a page on this website breaks, your browser sends us a short note of what went wrong: the page, the kind of browser and the error, never anything you typed and nothing that names you. We keep these notes for 90 days, only to find and fix faults.

We ask only for what each of these needs. We never sell your information or share it for anyone else's advertising.

Who helps us

A few trusted services run parts of the studio for us. Each uses your information only to provide that service to us, under contract.

• Supabase keeps our records and sign-in, on servers in the European Union (Paris).
• Vercel hosts this website.
• Paystack takes payments by Mobile Money and card.
• Resend sends our emails: booking confirmations and reminders, sign-in codes and payment receipts.
• WhatsApp, by Meta, carries our chats when you message us, and the reminders you ask for there.
• Vercel also checks, invisibly, that a form is sent by a person and not a spam program.
• Google Maps shows the map on our contact page, and Open-Meteo the weather line on the home page. They see your device's internet address when they load.
• Fresha still takes some of our bookings for now. Its own privacy notice applies there.

Some of these companies are based outside Ghana, in the European Union and the United States. We choose providers that protect information to a high standard and bind them by contract to do so.

How long we keep it

• Bookings and your visit history: 24 months after your last visit.
• Hair Club answers: 24 months after your last visit, or sooner if you ask us to delete them.
• A delivery address: 90 days after delivery.
• Messages and enquiries: 12 months.
• Payment records: as long as the law requires for tax.
• News and offers: until you stop them.
• A "do not send" note: if you stop our reminder emails or our WhatsApp messages, or an email to you cannot be delivered, we keep a scrambled form of that address or number, from which it cannot be read back, so that we never send it what you stopped by mistake. We keep this note even if you ask us to delete your other details, because it is what keeps your wish.

After that we delete it.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You can take back a consent at any time, for example for Hair Club answers or for news and offers. To stop reminder emails, use the link at the foot of any reminder. To stop our WhatsApp messages, send STOP; send START to have them again. Message or write to us from the phone number or email we have for you, so we know it is you, and we will reply within 14 days. If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.

On your phone or computer

We set no cookies and use no tracking or advertising tools. This website saves a few things in your own browser so they are still there when you come back: the services in your booking, the items in your bag, and copies of pages so the site still opens without a connection. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings. The Google map on the contact page may set its own cookies when it loads.

How we protect it

Every connection to this website and to our records is encrypted. Only the owner and the front desk can sign in to the studio's system, each with their own login and a second step, and health answers are encrypted so that only the owner can read them.

Children

For anyone under 16, a parent or guardian books, gives any consent and is our contact.

Changes

When this notice changes we update this page and the date at the top. See also our booking, payment and refund terms.
